Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse Tuesday said a man was arrested on West Main Street in Gun Barrel City Monday afternoon with suspected methamphetamine and a loaded handgun.
Jesse Mack Bennett, Jr., 19, of Seven Points was initially stopped for a traffic violation by Captain Damon Boswell and Investigator Meagan Hogan.
Methamphetamines were found concealed in his wallet.
Deputies then discovered a loaded, 9mm handgun and ammunition in the vehicle. They also found several items commonly used in the packaging and distribution of narcotics.
He was charged with a Second Degree Felony and was taken to the Henderson County Jail. Bennett’s vehicle was impounded.
